Every April, bluebonnets come alive in the Texas Hill Country, and that means the Bluebonnet Festival in Burnet, Texas will take over the town for a fun-filled weekend! Expect yummy food, fun activities, a sweet parade, live music, and many more things to do in Burnet, Texas!
The Bluebonnet Festival takes place on the second weekend of April each year. In 2023, the festival will take place April 7-9, 2023. This year will be the 40th Annual Burnet Bluebonnet Festival and crowds exceeding 35,000 people are expected.
Burnet Bluebonnet Capital of Texas
The Texas State Legislature recognized Burnet as the “Bluebonnet Capital of Texas” in 1981 due to its large population of bluebonnets covering the hillsides and also its dedication to the state flower with its annual festival each April.

Burnet Bluebonnet Festival Details
The Festival will take place April 7-9, 2023. Located in downtown Burnet, most festivities will be located between Washington and League streets, west of 281. The Main Stage is located at the corner of Washington Street and Main Street.
Parking will be tricky in this small town. Your best bet is to arrive early! There are small parking lots at the Community Center and the Post Office.
Feel free to pack a picnic or take advantage of the abundant food offerings in the Food Court. From carnival food to Cajun gumbo, there are plenty of options!

Bluebonnet Festival Events
This three day festival is packed to the brim with entertaining activities for the whole family. The Festival kicks off Friday afternoon and runs through Sunday afternoon. The Pet Parade takes place Friday late afternoon, and the Grand Parade will head down Washington Street on Saturday just after noon.
Live Music will take place on the Main Stage as well as the Jackson Street Stage every afternoon and evening. Over a dozen different musical artists will take the stage, along with a Praise Band on Sunday morning.
Children will especially love the Mighty Thomas Carnival offered throughout the weekend, the Burnet Gunfighters Shoot-Out on Saturday afternoon, the Weiner Dog Race on Sunday.
Arts and Crafts Vendors, Classic Car Shows, a 1K – 10K race, dance performances, flyovers, cavalry demonstrations, and Cornhole Tournament round out the weekend’s festivities. Check out the full schedule for the times for each event and the music line-up.

Hot Tip!
Head to the Burnet Chamber of Commerce to pick up packets of Bluebonnet Seeds! They are the perfect souvenir. You’ll want to plant them in the Fall and watch them grow next Spring.
