We live just an hour or so from Fredericksburg and it is one of our favorite weekend getaway and day trip spots. While almost nothing can beat Hill Country in the spring, the Christmas season in Fredericksburg is just magical and gives springtime a run for its money!

Main Street is the heart of Fredericksburg and one of the top things to do in Hill Country year round. During the Christmas season, Main Street is decked out in holiday decorations and lights with such a merrry vibe.
We love to just stroll down the street and browse the shops, which offer everything from antiques to toys and trinkets. Many of the boutiques and tasting rooms also offer special holiday promotions and events. You’ll find more on those Texas Christmas events below.

Marktplatz

Marktplatz is the town square and is home to Fredericksburg’s Christmas Pyramid. What is a Christmas pyramid you ask?
The German Christmas Pyramid is a traditional German decoration dating back to the 16th century. The 26-foot-tall wooden structure is called a Weihnachtspyramide and is adorned with hand-carved wooden figurines that tell the story of the nativity scene. The pyramid is illuminated with over 1,000 lights and it spins! The Christmas pyramid was handcrafted in Germany and now proudly stands in the Marktplatz serving as a holiday centerpiece for Christmas in Fredericksburg.
You can fully enjoy Fredericksburg’s Christmas Nights of Lights, a 10-minute audio presentation that tells the story of the town’s German heritage and concludes with a countdown to the lighting of Marktplatz each evening throughout the season. Holiday music can be heard from 5pm-6:30pm and the audio and light presentation is at 6pm. This event is a must-do when celebrating a Fredericksburg TX Christmas!

Admission to the rink is affordable, and skate rentals are available on-site. Visitors can also purchase hot cocoa and other treats to enjoy while they skate.

Stake out a spot on Main Street, or reserve a seat in the bleachers, for the annual Light the Night Christmas Parade. This festive parade takes place in the heart of downtown Fredericksburg, and it features dozens of brightly lit floats, marching bands, and other holiday-themed attractions.
If you choose to sit along the street, choose a spot between Washington and Edison streets. Head to Peppermint Platz afterward to take a photo with Santa and do a children’s activity or two.

The Pioneer Museum is one of our favorite spots in Fredericksburg! We have not had the opportunity to attend Kinderfest, but are sure that young children will love it. Santa Day Parade

Bethany Lutheran Church hosts an interactive experience which celebrates the true meaning on Christmas. Drive through this nativity display with several scenes complete with live actors and live animals. It takes about 10 minutes to drive thru.
