If you’re planning a trip to the Georgetown Square, don’t miss out on the beautiful sight of the red poppies in bloom. These bright red flowers typically bloom from mid-March – late April are an iconic symbol in this beautiful town.

Not only are they a gorgeous sight to behold, but they also have a special significance in history. The Red Poppy became the symbol of remembrance after a solder sent home red poppy seeds from Flanders’ Field during World War I and they began to grow wild throughout the town. To make the most of your visit, be sure to stop by the Visitors Center to grab a map with the locations of the Red Poppy fields surrounding downtown.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Sweet Lemon Kitchen with my dear friend to celebrate her birthday, and it was amazing. We lucked out and got the perfect table on the front patio, bathed in sunshine – with perfect spring weather for a relaxing brunch. I loved the Quiche Lorraine and she loved her Frittata. The side salad with their signature lemon dressing was perfection. We couldn’t resist taking some of their delectable gluten-free desserts to go, and the staff even gave free samples to help decide between the seasonal strawberry muffin and lemon bundt cake. You’ll have to try both and decide which to order for yourself!

Georgetown, Texas is known for its charming small-town feel, but what really sets it apart are its amazing annual festivals! Each year, visitors from all over flock to Georgetown to experience the magic of these beloved celebrations. One of the most popular is the Christmas Stroll, where the town comes alive with holiday spirit as twinkling lights, live music, and festive decorations line the streets. It’s the perfect way to kick off the holiday season and get in the spirit of giving.

As soon as Thanksgiving ends each year, our family heads to Georgetown to soak up the sweet, holiday spirit! The annual Christmas parade is an adorable tradition and we are huge fans of the incredible, interactive Bethlehem Village.

Another can’t-miss festival is the Red Poppy Festival, which celebrates the vibrant red poppies that bloom throughout Georgetown each spring. This three-day event is jam-packed with live music, food vendors, and family-friendly activities, including a car show, a kids zone, dancers, BMX stunt shows, and a parade. And of course, there are plenty of opportunities to snap some photos with the beautiful poppy blooms as a backdrop!

Other annual events include Fiesta Georgetown with a gorgeous, colorful parade in October, the Trick or Treat Trail and Georgetown Square Boo Bash, and 4th of July Celebration.

Start your day by browsing the many shops and boutiques that line the square, including antique treasures at the Georgetown Antique Mall, handmade gifts and décor at Bella and Birdie, and gourmet meats and cheeses at Tejas Meat Supply. For foodies, Brazos Market & Boutique offers a wide selection of clothing and accessories.

And once you’ve worked up an appetite from all that shopping, head over to Grape Creek Vineyards Georgetown for a tasting of their award-winning wines.

If you’re a traveler looking for unique souvenirs or gifts to bring back home, the Daytripper Headquarters is the perfect shopping destination in Georgetown Square!

This shop offers a variety of locally made goods, from clothing to sauces to souvenirs, all of which are inspired by the Lone Star State. You’ll find one-of-a-kind items and the quality of the products is truly top-notch.

And if you’re lucky, you might even catch a glimpse of Chet Garner, the host of the popular TV show “The Daytripper,” which showcases Texas’s many hot spots and hidden gems.
