Flights
Google Flights
Google Flights is our favorite way to explore flight prices to multiple destinations and we love the monthly calendar feature to help us pick the most cost effective dates to fly.
Scott’s Cheap Flights
This is a free service that sends email alerts based on low prices from your home airports. Their paid service sends all alerts, while their free service sends select alerts.
Accommodations
Vrbo
We have been using VRBO for over a decade and loved the flexibility they offer to book a home with a kitchen instead of a hotel room.
Airbnb
Airbnb is a favorite of ours as we often travel with family and love the extra time and memories we build by staying altogether in a large home.
Booking
Booking provides a user-friendly search engine for flight, hotel, and car rental prices.
The map view is helpful for choosing accommodations near our activities if we wish to have a walkable vacation.
Hyatt Resorts
Finding hotel rooms are tricky as a family of five, but Hyatt tends to be our most popular choice.
They often offer sofa beds that allow for 5 people total, suites, and usually free breakfast.
Skyscanner
Skyscanner is another great option for searching multiple hotel and flight options all in one place to get the most bang for your buck.
Set up alerts for email notices when prices drop.
Getting Around
Autoslash
Autoslash is our go to car rental price aggregator to determine which company has the best prices in each location. They also track your reservations and notify you if prices drop so that you can cancel your existing booking and rebook at the lower price.
Discount USA Car Rental
This discount car rental website has also proven to be successful in finding the best car rental deals. While some Texas cities do have public transportation options, it is not nearly extensive enough to explore outside the city without a car.
Tour Companies
Viator
If you’d like to book tours on your Texas vacay, odds are Viator has one to offer that is exactly what you are looking for – from city scavenger hunts to coastal fishing trips to guided hikes – they have it all!
