Beautiful Sunflower Fields in Houston (+ Farms Nearby for 2023)

In late spring, gorgeous sunflower fields in Houston burst into color and they are such a sight to see! These happy flowers are a beautiful symbol of summer days to come and a visit is sure to brighten any day.

As an added bonus, most farms also release a fresh round of sunflower U-pick fields during late September and October to kick off their fall festivals. Plan to visit in fall if you missed the spring events – or better yet, go to both!

Rows and rows of golden blooms fill acres of beautiful fields for you to explore, use as a photography background, and pick your own sunflowers near Houston too! We love visiting flower fields each season and hope you enjoy them too!

Are there sunflower fields in Houston?

There are beautiful sunflower fields in Houston! They only require a short drive of 30-60 minutes out of the city and you will discover several beautiful sunflower farms to pick your own sunflowers.

What time of year do sunflowers bloom in Houston?

May and June are prime times for seeing sunflowers blooming in Houston. Some farms also plant a fall crop that blooms in late September through October.

Can you pick your own sunflowers near Houston?

There are some gorgeous sunflower farms that allow visitors to pick their own sunflowers near Houston. Sometimes admission fees apply, and flowers are typically sold for $1-3 per flower.

Houston Sunflower Fields: P-6 Farms

An hour north of Houston is the lovely P-6 Farms. They have one of the best sunflower fields in the Houston area and you’ll love spending an afternoon here.

Walk the rows of sunflower flowers (there are many acres!) and take some fun photos of your family. Professional photography is not allowed here, so feel free to bring a friend along and snap some photos of one another.

U-pick flowers are available here and you are sure to love taking home a stunning bouquet. Flowers are sold for $3 each. Blackberries are also sold here- yum! So if you time it right in June, you may be lucky enough to enjoy both crops!

Take some time to ride the vintage rides and challenge your children to a duck race. Their kettle corn is super delicious and the perfect treat.

P-6 Farms also offers their Fall Festival which is another opportunity to enjoy their sunflower fields. You can tackle the corn maze, race wheelbarrows, and pick out a pumpkin too!

Froberg’s Farm (closest sunflower field to Houston!)

Froberg’s Farm is just a hop and skip away from Houston, heading south just a half hour away. May and June are sunflower season at Froberg’s and this Houston sunflower farm welcomes visitors. U-pick stems are available for purchase per stem.

If you’d like to have a professional photographer join you in the fields, you can book a time slot in advance. We recommend an evening weekend slot if you can snag one as the the golden hour light would be absolutely gorgeous in the fields just before sunset!

In October, Froberg’s Farm has Fall Festival in October each year for a second chance to browse the sunflowers on their beautiful Sunflower Trail. Colorful zinnia fields are also on the agenda. Flat rate admission fees apply which cover entry to the sunflowers, as well as the Pumpkin Patch, Berry Fun Land activities, and the corn maze.

Gem mining, bee roller coaster, apple blasters, inflatables, and more are also available for an extra fee. You can see the price menu here. Be prepared with some cash for some of the activities. In the mood for pie? They have that too!

Their Country Store also sells plenty of wonderful treats, like garlic chips, spicy plantains, jam, strawberries, and sometimes even tamales!

Houston Sunflower Farms | Very Truly Texas

Sunflower Farm: Dewberry Farm

Less than an hour from Houston, is the amazing Dewberry Farm. Packed to the gills with many fun things do, sunflower fields are one of their many highlights.

The sunflower fields are open only during the fall for photos and U-pick sunflowers. Photo sessions can be completed with or without a professional photographer simply for the price of admission. If you choose to pick your own sunflowers bouquet, they can be purchased for only $1 each.

Dewberry Farm has many other activities beyond their beautiful sunflower fields. Carnival rides, human foosball, a house made of pumpkins (another great photo spot!), live music, and an incredible corn maze are just a few of the fun things to do! Fill up on funnel cakes and turkey legs or pack your own picnic if you prefer.

Admission can be booked here and most activities are included in your admission fee. Purchasing flowers or food and beverages are an additional charge, and please note that the farm is cashless.
